Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency is an inherited autosomal recessive disorder which affects the survival of red blood cells, leading to anemia and liver failure among affected dogs. This inherited disease is characterized by signs of anemia, low energy, and exercise intolerance. Most canines affected with PK will likely die between ages 1 and 4.
